what is metager?
metager is a german meta-search engine with roots in the university of hannover, run by the non-profit suma-ev since the 1990s: instead of its own crawler it blends results from many indexes, strips identifying data and funds itself through donations rather than data brokerage. it is one of the old institutions of the european privacy web.
the onion address is linked directly on the metager.de homepage - an openly advertised onion, which most western search engines still avoid. through it, the whole federated search works without a single clearnet request.
