what is 0xacab?

0xacab is the code hosting and collaboration platform operated by the riseup collective and shared with allied activist tech projects. it runs a gitlab instance where the source code of riseup's own tools and many other movement-infrastructure projects lives - transparent by design so anyone can audit what these collectives deploy.

accessing it over tor serves two purposes: developers working from networks that filter riseup properties retain access, and ordinary visitors can browse the repositories without their interest in activist tooling appearing in isp or corporate logs. the address is operated by the same collective behind riseup mail.

our monitoring hits the platform through the tor network on a schedule, recording answer/no-answer, load duration and a rolling seven-day uptime percentage. the numbers describe availability of the door - they say nothing about the content behind it.
