what is propublica?

propublica is a non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest - reporting on power, money and abuse of office that it publishes free of charge. in 2016 it became the first major news organisation to launch a proper .onion version of its site, setting the template that bbc, the times and others later followed.

the tor mirror exists for two audiences: readers in censored or surveillance-heavy environments who simply need a working path to the reporting, and sources who want to read the outlet's work without their visit showing up in network logs. propublica pairs the mirror with a securedrop instance for document submissions.
