what is onionshare?
onionshare is an open-source tool, first released in 2014, that turns any computer into a temporary onion service: drag files in, get an .onion address, and whoever has it can download straight from your machine - no upload to any third party, no size limits, no account. newer versions added anonymous chat, a receive mode for collecting files and even static website hosting on the same mechanism.
because the whole point is that connections stay inside the tor network, it fits that the project practices what it ships: the onionshare.org website itself is reachable as an onion, with a published onion.txt proof file for verification against the clearnet site.
the address tracked here is that official website onion. if it answers, the project's documentation, download links and security signatures are reachable without ever touching the clearnet.
