On-demand onion status checker: probe any address yourself
The list covers the services we track. But people constantly arrive wanting to check an address we do not list - a mirror someone sent them, a service they run themselves, an address from a forum post they do not trust. Now there is a tool for that.
What it does
Paste any .onion address into the onion status checker and it gets probed over the tor network, live. You get the verdict - online, slow or offline - plus response time and the validation status of the address itself. The same honesty rules apply
It uses the same engine as the main list, including the retry discipline: a single timeout is retried on a fresh circuit before anything is called offline. One bad probe is noise, and the tool knows it. Two honest limits: the check measures reachability from our vantage point, not yours - your guard relay can still disagree with ours. And a green result means a server answered, nothing more about who runs it. The verification guide covers the rest.
